The pivot system is a roulette betting system based off repeating numbers. The strategy is to write down the winning number of each spin until one number repeats. The repeated number is the “pivot number,” making it the first bet.

For example, let’s say you have a sequence 7, 12, 8, 32, 27, 29, 7, 5.

The number 7 is the repeated number, making it the pivot for the next 36 spins in a row unless it wins. The idea is to be the same amount on the pivot for each spin until a win or loss at the end of the 36 spins. A win on a single number in roulette pays 35 to 1, so if the pivot comes up anytime throughout the 36 spins, you will be a winner or break even if it comes up on the 36^th spin. On a win, stop betting on that pivot and select a new one to start the process again.

Roulette is based on the law of unequal distribution. This states that the chances of 36 numbers hitting in a row is very slim but, over thousands of spins, all numbers will hit about the same amount of times. The pivot system is faulty because each spin is independent of each other. In the long run, you can’t predict what number will come up next on a roulette spin. In European roulette, the odds of one number coming up three times in a row are 1 to 50,652 (37×37x37). In American roulette, the odds of one in a row three times are 1 in 54,871 (38×38x38). In other words, don’t bank on one number coming up three times in a row, even if it’s happened twice.
