There are bets on groups of numbers according to the roulette table and then there are bets on groups of numbers according to the roulette wheel. There are four special call bets that pertain to the roulette wheel and are mainly offered on European Roulette. Since roulette derived from France, the bets have French names.

The first is the “Voisins du Zero,” or “Neighbors of Zero.” The bet includes those numbers that lie between the numbers 22 and 25 on the wheel. The neighbors of zero are 22, 18, 29, 7, 28, 12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32, 15, 19, 4, 21, 2 and 25. The bet requires nine chips: two on the trio 0, 2 and 3; two on the corner bet 25/26/28/29 and a split bet on each 4/7, 12/15, 18/21, 19/22 and 32/35.

The second is within the “Voisins du Zero” and is called “Jeu 0” or “Zero Spiel,” which is translated to “Play 0 Gold.” This bet includes four chips and seven numbers (12, 35, 3, 26, 0, 32 and 15). One chip is placed straight up on 26 and four chips are placed on the split bets 0/3, 12/15 and 32/35.

The third is the “Tiers du Cylindre,” or “the Third.” This bet is on the numbers 27-33 on the roulette wheel, which includes 27, 13, 36, 11, 30, 8, 23, 10, 5, 24, 16 and 33. It involves six chips, one chip per split on 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30 and 33/36. Another variation of the bet is called “Tier 5, 8, 10, 11,” which includes extra chips straight up on those respective numbers, making it a 10-chip bet.

The fourth is the “Les Orphelins,” or “Orphans.” This bet covers the segments on the European Roulette wheel not covered by the “Tiers du Cylindre” or “Voisins du Zero.” The bet involves eight numbers and five chips. One chip is placed straight up on 1 and four are split on 6/9, 14/17, 17/20 and 31/34.

Another call bet worth mentioning is the “XX and the Neighbors.” The “xx” stands for the number the player chooses to bet on and the “neighbors” include two numbers on either side of the chosen number, making it a 5-number bet. However, the bet can be made up of five or more numbers.
