When you are looking to have some fun and win the all coveted dollar in a casino, you’d better take the time before you go to learn the ins and outs of playing each certain game. Whether you are playing in Monte Carlo in the south of France, or you are in your pajamas on the Internet, you can be assured that each game comes standard with its own set of rules.
Learning these rules will not only give you an edge in understanding how to play the game most effectively, but you will understand why you lost when the house took your money instead of passionately declaring in protest that the game is broken because they took your cash! In order to have game etiquette for the house and other players, you must know and understand the games rules prior to playing, or you could spoil your own fun and the fun that people around you are trying to have.
So you found your game and now its time for you to make a choice. You can either bet Black and Red, or Even and Odd. Then you should be up to date on what the Roulette dealer is called. He or she is referred to as the “Croupier”. The Croupier will exchange you chips for your money and you will have a totally different color of chip than anyone else at the table so that the Croupier can identify who to pay their winnings at the end of each game.
You will want to note that you must cash out all of your chips before you leave the table. Since the chips change values throughout the day, this is the only way to ensure that you get paid what your chip is worth at that moment. You can not cash out your chips with another cashier because of this, nor can you expect the Croupier to remember what the chips value was once you decided to exit the table.
You can bet at the table until you hear the Croupier call out that there are no more bets. If you try to slip in a bet once you have seen the resulted number this is considered cheating and is taken highly serious. The term for this action is referred to as “Past Posting”, and it is illegal and punishable by the laws that govern that particular state or country.
Once the Croupier calls out the number that the ball rolled into on the wheel, a marker goes on top of the winning number and the chips that are on that number win and remain on the table until the winnings are paid out. All of the other chips are removed from the table at that time. Outside bet winnings are always paid out first, followed by inside winning bets being paid out to each guest at the table. As etiquette to the Croupier, please refrain from placing your bet until the previous bets have been paid in full.
You will quickly discover that this game is either a friend or foe in your eyes. It has been said that you either love it or hate it, but whichever space the ball rolls on in your heart for roulette, please take the time to gain simple understanding of the game before you saunter into the game thinking you have a good idea of how this game is played. You will have more fun if you know the rules, and you won’t offend others just trying to have a good time! It’s a win-win situation!
